When asked about 'Ordinary World,' some of my friends would response with a blank face. Some even began to answer me with a question. Questions like 'What do you mean, ordinary world?' and 'Can you please repeat that question?" would be the 'answers' I'd expect.
Of course, when asked about 'Ordinary World', it would be one of Duran Duran's signature song. My friends asks me, disbelievingly, "You still listen to those 80's (Correction - Ordinary world was released in around 1993, I think. That automatically makes it a 90's song) shit? How old are you?" My replies would usually be "Yeah. What's wrong with that?" Some even labelled me 'The traitor of my generation'.
Some of you may or may not understand what my friends here meant by 'traitor'. But I totally understand what they meant by that, cos' my music favourites are mostly 90's. I don't blame them. It's their opinion. I'm usually the most 'out-dated' among the group.
Back to the topic, what's the significance of Duran Duran's song? Well, the song reminded me of my big brother in KL. I just miss him so much, having not seeing each other for years. But everytime he flew back home for a visit, he'll usually play 90's songs. But, of all the songs, I find 'Ordinary World' very inspiring. The lyrics really struck me, especially the chorus. I just can't really explain it.........
