I like K-dramas!!!

These are among my favourites!!!

I admit it. I like Korean Dramas. I don't have to deny my love for Korean rom-coms just because it's not "manly".

Perhaps it has a lot to do with the way the actors play their roles and the excellent character interactions in k-dramas that intrigues me, regardless of their rather cliched story-lines. Not to mention, great soundtracks!

Internet... the green pastures for trolls?

"Before I proceed, I would like to offer a towering apology for neglecting my blog. It seems that Writer's Block(Literatulis Paralyscosis) really hit me hard this time."

Anyway, back to the story at hand, I was Goo-growsing(Google + browsing) away on the Internet today, and I just could not help  but notice the trolls roaming everywhere, especially around the comment sections!

It was like watching WW2 in real life every time I read an article and scroll down to the comments to read them. Words just escape me. Without sufficient vocabulary to record my observations, I was forced to conclude that:

"THIS IS MADNESS!!!"

Even Youtube's fate isn't spared from this scum of humanity, particularly in the music section. Can't people differentiate between constructive criticism and mindless negativity? Oh, the destruction, the provocation and similar words that ends with "-tion"!

With all the trolling and counter-trolling comments thrown at each other, those that choose to remain neutral can only do the 2 D's - Duck and Dodge!

I bet not even the Omaha Beach could be used as a good analogy to describe this...

Triond - social network for writers

Wow!!!

It's been a while since I've posted anything on this blog (besides posting links to my works). So, to make up for it, I've decided to write a little bit about Triond.

In case you have no idea what Triond is, it's basically a publishing website where you can submit your articles. But what makes Triond unique is that it also functions as some sort of social network, much like Facebook for writers. You can customize your profile any way you can. The way your profile is arranged is totally up to you.
Plus, you can write just about anything you want. And because Triond is affiliated with many websites, your articles will have a better chance of exposure once it is published.

The awesome-ness of Triond is the reason I rarely update my blog. But I'm not going to simply close down my blog under any circumstances.

Anyway, do visit www.triond.com and give it a try.

Until then..............

P/S: And while you're at it, do feel free to add me as a friend and check out my work. You can click here to view my profile.

Are we emphasizing too much on success?

Just something I wanted to share with you all. Might as well while I'm at it.......

I was wondering what happened to all the advice telling us to be a kind, considerate and law-abiding citizens? It seems that nowadays we're being told of the opposite:-

"This is a dog-eat-dog world. Be kiasu*. Be at the top of the competition. Be aggressive. Have no mercy. Those are the rules of success."

Should we all be surprised that many 'successful' people seems to be the most difficult people we want to avoid at all times?

What do you think? Feel free to agree or disagree and share your ideas on the comments section.

Until then.................

*Basically meaning fear of losing out. Usually a local Chinese slang in Singapore and Malaysia

What kind of creativity do YOU possess???

Usually, when people talk about creativity, immediately most people picture this:-

Yup, it's almost always the painter wearing a french beret (why french beret?) and the mustache. But the truth is, creativity itself is diverse, often taking on different forms depending on the scenario. There are at least 3 distinct forms of creativity which I have identified (based mostly on my personal observation).

Expressive creativity

This sort of creativity enable artists to find ingenious ways to express themselves, usually in the form of incredible by-products of their expressions. Those with this form of creativity are usually called artists, which usually includes:-

  • painters
  • sculptors
  • musicians
  • dancers
  • actors
  • writers
  • performers

Alexander's creativity

Named after the great Macedonian commander, Alexander's creativity helps tacticians to outsmart and outmaneuver their opponents in order to gain upper-hand advantage in battlefields. This does not only apply exclusively to the military per se, it can also be used by politicians, CEO's and football coaches when engaging their foes in their respective battlefields.

INNOVATIVE CREATIVITY

Mankind's abilities to pursue technological and innovative endeavors to improve the livelihood of the human species is what innovative creativity is all about which, in the absence of it, we couldn't live without. From the beginning of mankind to modern times, from simple stone tools to computers and iPhones, the possibilities are endless. In fact, you can thank many men and women who are blessed with this form of creativity for many of the benefits we're enjoying.

There you have it. Even though there may be more kinds of creativity out there that I did not cover here, the fact that the 3 creativity types is more than enough to prove the diversity of creativity. Not only that, some of us could also have more than 1 form of creativity, with Leonardo da Vinci as the best example, showcasing all 3 creativity types mentioned above.

Well, that's all for now.

Until then.................
